The Snow Leopard Population In Kazakhstan Made An Incredible Comeback
My favorite big cat! Whenever I used to draw Lakota as a gryphon when I was younger, her back half would be a snow leopard instead of a lion XD
On a bit of a tangent, I was watching The Hobbit last night, and the credits included someone called Alison Learned Wolf, and I thought she's got to be a relation, even if not genetically 😁
Load More Replies...My husband calls me snow leopard sometimes! Because I am rare, beautiful and have cute freckles, apparently! <3
We all know that we should be taking care of our mental health, but that’s easier said than done when you work a full-time job, are struggling to make ends meet and see doomsday headlines every time you turn on the TV or pull out your phone.
According to the American Psychological Association, in 2022, a whopping 70% of adults in the U.S. reported that they don’t think their government cares about them. 64% of Americans also said that they feel like their rights are under attack, and 76% admitted that worries about the future of their nation causes a significant amount of stress in their daily lives.
Korean Scientists Developed A Method To Treat Colon Cancer
Incredible. There are a lot of very exciting things happening in medicine right now. I genuinely believe in the next decade or two there will be a significant number of life changing breakthroughs.
Agree. Absolutely amazing. And let's hope that all those nitwits who claim that the earth is flat / the sky is fake / vaccines cause autism / lizard people are real won't interfere with this incredible breakthrough.
Load More Replies...I read this as I am manning the front desk of our Colon & Rectal Surgery office... Awaiting the arrival of our new patient... Just diagnosed with Colon cancer. Here's hoping that this innovation is fast tracked and brought into treatment options quickly.
I've just finished treatment for throat cancer and stories like this make me so happy. I understand that there are a lot of different types of cancer, but conquering one is a great step forward!!
This question was the first thought I had when I read this. I'd really like to know the answer.
Load More Replies...Doesn't matter, they'll (medical companies, not the docs) make it unaffordable.
Only in the usa and the very very few other places that charge for medicine, surgeries, hosp stays and Dr visits.
Load More Replies...Wow. Hopefully the big pharma companies don't find these dudes and, ahem, disappear them.
Let's hope they don't suddenly Dissapear under mysterious circumstances
Unsurprisingly, inflation is also a source of stress for 83% of Americans, and over a quarter of adults in the U.S. admitted that they’re so stressed most days, they can’t even function properly.
While there’s an immense amount of pressure to keep up with current events nowadays, checking the news can also be an anxiety-inducing experience, especially if it leads to doomscrolling.
The UK's National Trust Announced A Massive Restoration Plan Across 250000 Hectares Of Land
Thanks for sharing this, but do you really have to put yourself in every image?
Harvard Health Publishing reports that some of the dangers of doomscrolling are physical symptoms including nausea, headaches, muscle tension, neck and shoulder pain, lack of appetite, trouble sleeping and elevated blood pressure.
Reading too many negative news stories can take a toll on mental health as well. It may cause existential anxiety, worse mental well-being and decreased life satisfaction.
New York Signed Into Law A Bill That Will Fine Fossil Fuel Companies
I imagine that the oil companies will sue, and then the branch of the heritage foundation, known as the supreme court will rule it unconstitutional.
It'll never even make it that far before being struck down.
Load More Replies...Does anyone really think the companies won't just increase the cost of their products to offset the fines?
Probably double so, "to offset for future litigation". But if it happens again they do it again, and give the reserved money to the top and the shareholders
Load More Replies...Are most of these USA good news items about to be overturned by Heir Trumpf?
Oh yes. The USDA just took anything mentioning climate change off of their public websites. Funds are not going to be used to research climate change and/or work to slow it. Environmental protections are soon to be a thing of the past. Isn’t it fun?
Load More Replies...Not what you are going to see under the present government.
Load More Replies...This is great news! Will New York share the $75B with the rest of the world, who have also suffered damages from the fossil industry? Just askin'...
You know that with cars relying on fossil fuels it's more about the exhaust fumes they produce than the production of the fuel, right? ... right?!?
Load More Replies...So what’s the best way to combat all of this? Well, making sure that you have access to positive news is a great place to start. Good News Utah reports that consuming positive news can reduce stress and anxiety, boost your mood, strengthen your relationships, make you more optimistic, help your heart stay healthy and even empower you to give back to others.
But you don’t even have to find news articles that have wholesome headlines to see these benefits. According to Greater Good Magazine, it’s also helpful to simply share good news from your own life with friends and family members.
Hundreds Of New Species Were Identified
Pretty sure we will see this species swim all the way back to Mordor just for spawning season XP
A 2024 study found that we can increase our feelings of gratitude by opening up to others about our own personal victories. Once we say these positive things out loud, we get an even deeper understanding of how wonderful they are, and our loved ones will likely only validate how lucky we are to be in that position.
Plus, this can strengthen your relationships. If friends and family members hear you sharing positive news, they might be inspired to share their own as well, and the cycle will continue! This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t ever seek out support from loved ones, but it’s just a reminder to focus on the positives as well. They deserve to be celebrated!
People Of Louisiana Donated Their Christmas Trees To Help Build Coastal Defenses To Prevent Flooding
I mean, that’s nice and everything but what were they going to do with dead Christmas trees anyway? I think the better story is that communities are trying to find natural, cost effective ways to protect property from the forces of nature.
I...agree, but I think that's what this was saying.
Load More Replies...They started the program in 1990. They take these trees & drop them into marsh edges, which helps rebuild the marshes back up in addition to direct flood mitigation. Which helps bolster the native wildlife. They've done it so long they've continually increased the size & greatly bolstered the health of the marshes. Several agencies are involved, but the National Guard does the aerial drops, using it as a training exercise in addition to the environmental benefits. Just one of the many many articles... this one from this year: https://www.the-independent.com/climate-change/christmas-trees-louisiana-hurricane-season-b2666180.html
The U.S. Banned New Offshore Drilling Across 625 Million Acres Of Ocean
Right up until Trump's executive order both reversed it and expanded where they're allowed to drill. As well as the one prohibiting new offshore solar, wind, and tide farms. The good news is that Biden's executive order was enacted in a way that many think will make Trump's reversal fail in Supreme Court (prior case law supports this).
I want Canada to start calling the Gulf of Alaska the Gulf of Canada, just to mess with the cheetolini.
Load More Replies.......aaaaaand it will be reversed by the orange dumpster dweller
Already done via his ridiculous list of executive orders. Hopefully it'll get reversed again.
Load More Replies...I just watched a "vintage" episode of Knot's Landing, tied in with Dallas at the beginning, in which these laws were used to keep JR from drilling off shore.
We understand that there are a lot of things happening in the world right now that you might be concerned about, and rightfully so. But don’t forget that there are always good things taking place too!

Communities Across La Came Together After The Wildfires
I find it weird that any mention of the fires has dropped off the nationsl news.
I just checked. Apparently they are mostly contained, so that, along with new stories such as the plane crash in DC, probably explains why.
Load More Replies...I'm a lifelong SoCal resident, and a lot of SoCal residents are wonderful about helping/donating/doing whatever they can for people affected by our (fairly frequent) fires. I live about 45 miles south/southeast of the Eaton and Palisades fires, so where I live is safe, but I've donated what I can. <3
It genuinely seems that the worst of occasions bring out the best in humanity, which is good. It would be great if we all stick to the mindset throughout.
Too bad those Scientologists showed up at the one donation sites and took off with most of the supplies.
This is supposed to be good news? The fires destroyed so many homes, sorry, that is all I could think of.
